To travel or not to travel?

November 2011

This year is Thanksgiving at my house for a change.  I seem to travel for the holidays a lot, since it is just me and that is cheaper than many tickets to fly here, I seem to not live close to any of my family.  So my house will be full and I was just discussing with my two dogs, they will not know what to do with so many people to get attention from.  I may feel neglected.  Two kids to follow around and lay on the floor with, what will they think when everyone leaves.  The house will feel so empty but alas I will have the utmost attention from my two fuzzy creatures who follow me around the house for fear of me leaving them behind.  We three are at a constant battle to who gets the best seat on the couch.  Fortunetly we all fit and no one is left out.  Ahhh Turkey day, they seem to come faster and faster every year.  Or maybe its just me and I feel the years go faster and faster.  The holidays are when the family try to get together so this is the time that sticks out to me more than other times of the year.  I don't plan on going anywhere for Christmas or New Years Eve.  I feel unless you have someone or one's to share the time with they are just another day.  It seems to me once Holloween comes it is just one holiday after the other and then spring is here.  Hard to believe it is the middle of November already.  I can remember this time last year too well.

Barbados, September 2011

Fresh coconut water.

The bus system was very useful and the locals were happy to help and glad to talk to you.

A new love of mine.

An interesting way to hold up a boat.

The bus terminal.

The local wildlife at the guesthouse.

I have always wanted to surf , so when I found a place that was advertising great surfing and surf lessons I was interested.  Barbados was the place and what a beautiful place, the water was so warm you did not want to get out of it.  I stayed on the far side of the island, away from the tourists, where the locals surf the big waves.  The guesthouse was great, Sea U Geasthouse, it was not a tourist trap and the locals were pretty much the only people on that side of the island.  I used the bus system to get around and to get to the south side of the island where the waves were smaller and where I learned to surf.   Barbados was super clean and the water was safe to drink all over the island.  Lots of history and fun places to visit, I saw a lot of the island through the eyes of the locals.  When you take the bus around the island to get from place to place you will see more of the island that tourists miss.  The roads were super narrow and it was quite an experience riding the bus, especially in the mornings when all the kids where packed on the bus going to school.  The people were very nice and always willing to help give directions and socialize.  The food was mostly fish and rice, flying fish are the most common and most common meal at the local hang outs.  The local beer was great and rum punch is available everywhere.  Barbados has great rum.  What a wonderful place to visit.
The water was super warm, I am wishing I was in the water.

Storm rolling in.

Pheasan hunting at R&R in SD, November 2011

Had a great pheasant hunt in South Dakota at R&R in Seneca.  Lots of guys came again that were there last year.  The weather was great and there were lots of birds again.

Catching up, May 2010

So, back to catching up on where I have been.  Last May, which would be May 2010 I flew to Texas and spend time with CUZ and family.  My birthday present was a zebra, I just had to shoot it.  First shot, dropped it and boy was he pretty.  He was also huge!  Have a nice shoulder mount and a rug from him.  The weather was great, until I flew into Denver.  They canceled my flight and had to rent a car in a severe rain storm that had planes grounded and drove home.  What a night and early morning, 1 hour of sleep and up to work.  The fun trip was finding someone to bring me back from Gillette, the closest place I could drop off the rental car.  An adventure to say the least.

May 2011

The first week of May here in Wyoming was COLD, COLD, COLD.  So I took a trip to southern Cali and spent some days in the sun.  Went to an A's game and made it into the Guiness Book of World Records by having the most people wearing a very weird wrestling head mask for 10 minutes.  Spent quality time with my nephews and partied in Huntington Beach.  I left in a snow storm and flew back in a rain storm, gotta love spring in Wyoming.

April 27th, 2011

Well, Easter was entertaining.  Lots to tell of travels before this weekend past but to update on recent travels.  Drove to Bozeman to spend Easter with ma and dad.  On the way home, Sunday, I might mention that nothing is open on Sunday let alone Easter.  My water pump and thermostat blew.  Got to spend the night in Billings and what an adventure.  The shop was great that fixed my truck and the dogs were patient and well behaved while I shoved them into strange vehicles and made them sleep on floors I wouldn't walk around bare foot in.  They are great travel companions.  But Bozeman was fun, went to museum and ate out a lot.  Hadn't seen them in a while so it was a nice visit.

Stagecoach, Indio, CA. April 2010

Party, Party, Party.  Did I mention this concert was one big party.  Arriving Friday with the toy hauler we camped at Indio and enjoyed a never ending concert all weekend long.  The weather was perfect and the people were amazing.  This was fun, fun, fun.

A sea of fifth wheels and toy haulers, everyone was here to have a good time.

The concert arena, you could say was a sea of people.  Sugarland, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert to name a few.  The vibe was nothing but a good time.

Roatan, Honduras Diving

Roatoan, Honduras, a little island off the coast of Honduras and in the Carribean.  The weather was great and the water stayed around 80 degrees.  We stayed at Anthony's Key a great resort with dolphins.  Our swim with the dolphins was awesome, I would recomend it to anyone.  We zip-lined the jungle, partied with the locals at the local bars and dove lots.

The dolphin enclosure at Anthony's Key Resort.

Wreck dive at 80 feet.  We met a super friendly eel that lived here, when we arrived he came out to greet us.

Cedar City, Utah. Snowmobiling March 2010

This was actually the trip that I severely wrecked my sled and scareded my nephew to death.  He was riding with me when an open creek in a meadow of really deep snow appeared.  Pictures as follows.  Overall the trip was great, kinda cold but the snow was awesome.  Fun times had by all!

My perfect snow angel was marred by an unmentionable family member walking across my head.

We could say really stuck and it isn't me!

Family adventures are the best out there.

This was the creek that appeared in my path, my sled is pulled out of the bank it was imbedded in when I landed.

Towgotee Pass, Wyoming Snowmobiling

For some reason I have no photos downloaded in my computer from this trip but it was great.  The snow was spectacular and we had the place all to ourselves.  Stayed at the lodge at the top of the pass and played around all over the mountain.  The lodge was fun, great food and ample drinks.  The weather was kinda overcast but it didn't hide the fun places to ride.  February was this trip, too bad there was only one more riding trip this year.

Saratoga Snowmobiling, Jan. 2010

Saratoge, Wyoming.  A breathtaking place and great snow!  You could ride forever and never ride the same spot twice!

This isn't me I swear, my sled actually made it home without any damage this trip!

Break time, the sky looks picturesque and the snow unmarked.

There were some pretty good hills to climb, fun bowls to ride in.
Overall a great trip, fun people and lots of laughs.
