To travel or not to travel?

April 27th, 2011

Well, Easter was entertaining.  Lots to tell of travels before this weekend past but to update on recent travels.  Drove to Bozeman to spend Easter with ma and dad.  On the way home, Sunday, I might mention that nothing is open on Sunday let alone Easter.  My water pump and thermostat blew.  Got to spend the night in Billings and what an adventure.  The shop was great that fixed my truck and the dogs were patient and well behaved while I shoved them into strange vehicles and made them sleep on floors I wouldn't walk around bare foot in.  They are great travel companions.  But Bozeman was fun, went to museum and ate out a lot.  Hadn't seen them in a while so it was a nice visit.

Stagecoach, Indio, CA. April 2010

Party, Party, Party.  Did I mention this concert was one big party.  Arriving Friday with the toy hauler we camped at Indio and enjoyed a never ending concert all weekend long.  The weather was perfect and the people were amazing.  This was fun, fun, fun.

A sea of fifth wheels and toy haulers, everyone was here to have a good time.

The concert arena, you could say was a sea of people.  Sugarland, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert to name a few.  The vibe was nothing but a good time.

Roatan, Honduras Diving

Roatoan, Honduras, a little island off the coast of Honduras and in the Carribean.  The weather was great and the water stayed around 80 degrees.  We stayed at Anthony's Key a great resort with dolphins.  Our swim with the dolphins was awesome, I would recomend it to anyone.  We zip-lined the jungle, partied with the locals at the local bars and dove lots.

The dolphin enclosure at Anthony's Key Resort.

Wreck dive at 80 feet.  We met a super friendly eel that lived here, when we arrived he came out to greet us.

Cedar City, Utah. Snowmobiling March 2010

This was actually the trip that I severely wrecked my sled and scareded my nephew to death.  He was riding with me when an open creek in a meadow of really deep snow appeared.  Pictures as follows.  Overall the trip was great, kinda cold but the snow was awesome.  Fun times had by all!

My perfect snow angel was marred by an unmentionable family member walking across my head.

We could say really stuck and it isn't me!

Family adventures are the best out there.

This was the creek that appeared in my path, my sled is pulled out of the bank it was imbedded in when I landed.

Towgotee Pass, Wyoming Snowmobiling

For some reason I have no photos downloaded in my computer from this trip but it was great.  The snow was spectacular and we had the place all to ourselves.  Stayed at the lodge at the top of the pass and played around all over the mountain.  The lodge was fun, great food and ample drinks.  The weather was kinda overcast but it didn't hide the fun places to ride.  February was this trip, too bad there was only one more riding trip this year.

Saratoga Snowmobiling, Jan. 2010

Saratoge, Wyoming.  A breathtaking place and great snow!  You could ride forever and never ride the same spot twice!

This isn't me I swear, my sled actually made it home without any damage this trip!

Break time, the sky looks picturesque and the snow unmarked.

There were some pretty good hills to climb, fun bowls to ride in.
Overall a great trip, fun people and lots of laughs.

Belize, January 2010

We arrived in Belize late in the day after an interesting water taxi ride out to the island.  San Pedro, a little town that has a lot of tourism.  We got off the boat and wondered, how to find our hotel.  No one seemed to know where the Corona del Mar was.  Ohhh, but it didn't take long and some locals pointed the way and off we went.  The people in Belize are very polite and friendly and lots of Americans live on the island.  Clean and quiet and the sand was very white.  Our dock"Woody's Wharf" is where we were picked up to go dive every day.  You could say we had our own private dock.

The chicken drop was a huge event, I am not sure how much the chickens enjoyed it but the people watching were almost more amusing than the sport itself.
Downtown was pretty quaint, not a lot of vehicles.  Everyone drove golf carts, so we had to follow suit and rented a cart for the day, we toured the island.  To say the least, it didn't take long to say we have seen it all.
My new friend.  We ate quite a lot downtown, one place in particular.  The Jerk Pit, the food was fanaminal, couldn't get enough of it.

The fishermen have come home and the pelicans like to welcome them.  Cleaning up the mess from cleaning the fish.

This was our hotel, it was a nice place, the employees were great and we had a short walk down the beach to the bars and restaurants.  There are lots of friendly homeless dogs that roam the beaches and one night a cute fellow followed us home.  He slept on the mat outside our door and hung around for a while.  I guess it is wrong to say they are homeless, everyone is friendly to them and the town is there home.

We took a trip to a ruins and to get there we took a boat to the main land up a river and then hopped in a van to the Altun Ha ruins.  This was a friendly face heading up the river.

Lots and lots of these guys all up and down the river, it was crazy the places in the trees you would find them.  Some of the branches didn't look like it would hold them up.

The ruins were great, you could walk all around and on top of most.  Some had parts you could walk in.   The place was beautiful, Belize has many ruins that the country has not uncovered.   The history is amazing!!

Lunch in the tree tops.  On our way back from the ruins we stopped at a resort on the mainland and had lunch.  In the mist of a jungle where you think nothing would be.......appeared this resort.  It was a pretty nice place.

The weather was a bit brisk when we stayed in Belize, the locals wore pants and sweatshirts and we froze in shorts and tanks.  We are suppose to be tropical was my thinking.  The water was usually 78 degrees or cooler and I was glad I had a wet suit, but I still froze.  Lots of marine life, we hugged a nurse shark, swam with lots of rays and nurse sharks up shark ray alley.  This was the trip to the blue hole and it was the coolest place I have dove to date.  The black tip reef sharks started circling under us as we started our ascent to the boat, 142 feet down the stalagtites were amazing to swim around.  The boat ride back from the blue hole was entertaining, a storm had rolled in and a few faces where hanging over the side of the boat most of the way home.  What a spectacular place, Amberguise Key was well worth the trip!
